Donut Run

Donut Run is an excellent donut shop/counter. So far, these are probably the best donuts I’ve tried in the DMV. If you like yeasty fluffy donuts, there are plenty of options here. If you like cake style donuts there are not as many options. I loved the variety of flavors to try. If I had to have any critique it would be the donuts are a little too sweet, especially in the frosting. However, that is personal preference. :) definitely worth checking this place out!

Nice little donut 🍩 place in DC, definitely a hidden gem. They have some of the best donuts I’ve ever had, probably one of my top 3 donut places, very tasty and colorful garnishes. My favorite donuts were; Strawberry icing, Cherry Pie (sweet with a sour cherry center filling that provides the perfect flavor contrast) & their rich chocolate one “Chocolate by Death (Official)”. Get there early, or you’ll find yourself with a long line. Besides, Donuts taste like they’re freshly baked and rich in flavor. Can’t wait to go for another Donut Run.

The donuts are delicious! I suggest going early for sure. It's a grab and go... and considering the line it can get a little hectic. We placed an order over someone else yelling out their order and they missed a couple. The pricing was confusing too. We got 8 donuts and ended up paying the same price as a dozen ... or so we think? We wish they would have mentioned that... I would suggest double checking the order for sure before leaving and try not to feel pressured or rushed by the crowd. They are definitely worth it!

My family will scoff at me for eating vegan things even though I'm not vegan bit allergic to dairy. Everyone else, including myself, is laughing at them for not trying these. Unlike other donut stores where you have maybe one or two options, everything here is an option and they're all delicious! I adored the key lime and the Creamsicle but everything I tried was fantastic.

It is difficult to describe how perfect & just quintessentially Takoma Park this little place is. From the big BLACK LIVES MATTER sign at its storefront to the constantly friendly faces and attitudes from staff, it's hard to come up with a single complaint about this lovely little place! Probably like some other fans of the store, obviously I'd love it if their hours were a bit more comprehensive, especially in the afternoons — but it also makes plenty of sense for a truly authentic donut place to be open early in the morning and to close by mid-afternoon due to a lack of stock by closing time. Being right in the middle of DC's share of Takoma Park, you'll have to be mindful about where you park. I'd recommend being prepared to find street parking more than even a few blocks away due to lack of parking right by the area. It's a lovely place for a stroll on a nice day, though! I also just cannot begin to talk up how delicious the vegan options are here. Seriously, if you have any folks in your life eating animal-free diets and you ever want to do something nice for them, I cannot recommend this place enough!
